Amy Sharp, SCBWI’s 2025 Tomie dePaola Mentorship Award winner, is an illustrator and writer based in Memphis, Tennessee. With a BFA in graphic design, Amy incorporates strong line throughout her work, crafting energetic scenes and creating characters that leap off the page. A career in advertising fostered the high-octane energy that seeps into Amy’s work and taught her time and again that collaborating with teams always makes the work better. She mainly works digitally, but loves to layer texture and mixed media into her art. Her goal in book publishing is to write stories that make children and adults root for the main characters and snort with laughter. Amy loves hand lettering, collage, sewing, anything adorkable, and spends a little too much time illustrating her grocery lists.
