KYNDACEE HARRIS

Krystal Quiles is a versatile illustrator who uses texture and color to connect with viewers, creating art that sparks new ideas and starts conversations. Originally from the Bronx, Krystal now creates her work in Philadelphia and New York City. She has earned acclaim for her exceptional talent, most notably in The Coquíes Still Sing / Los Coquíes Aún Cantan, which received the prestigious 2023 Pura Belpré Illustrator Honor.

Armed with a BFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute, Krystal has gone on to contribute to magazine editorials, collaborate with design teams on a national museum exhibit featuring her mural-sized illustrations, and create posters and portraits that promote social awareness and foster a sense of community.

She deeply enjoys her work in book publishing and believes that telling stories through pictures is one of the most powerful ways to communicate with children and adults alike. Guided by curiosity, Krystal finds inspiration in music, stylish strangers, houseplants, dance breaks, and biking around cities.
